May 14, 2026 CMQG Monthly Meeting
The May 14, 2026 meeting of the Corvallis Modern Quilt Guild (CMQG) was conducted at the Corvallis Museum. Colleen P., President, convened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. Susan S. graciously welcomed 40 members to the evening meeting. A special welcome was given to our guest, Liz O.
Announcements
The new Member Profile Directory is live. Guild members are encouraged to update their profile and include pictures as the pictures help us become acquainted with each other.
The July guild meeting will be held at a community park. The exact location will be announced at a later date. The guild activity will be a social event including a picnic/potluck. Please encourage your quilting friends to join us for the event.
Program: Quilt Show Prep Panel
As we prepare for several exhibit opportunities this year – including Quilts in the Garden – this month‘s program focused on getting quilts ready for display. Panelist Karen C., Dr. Colleen P., and Marianne D. shared practical tips and personal experiences related to quilt photography, hanging sleeves, labels, artist statements, submissions, and other aspects of exhibit preparation. The discussion also included encouragement and guidance for members who may be considering exhibiting a quilt for the first time.
Get ’Er Done
Members shared their #2 completed projects with guild members. Those members completing the #2 project will have their name submitted into the drawing to be held at the end of the year. Anyone interested in learning more about Get ’Er Done may contact Candy W. The project to be completed for the June meeting is #4.
Made Fabric Block Exchange
Completed Twister Blocks were given to JC B., who will use them to make a donation quilt. Diana F. presented the blue and purple star block, which will be the May challenge. Information about constructing the block can be found on the guild website in the group section.
Fabric Basket Class
Beth R. is teaching a fabric basket class at Sew Day on May 24th. There will be a small fee associated with this class. Beth showed members how to prepare the cording for the class session (3/4 in strips, about 100 ft wrapped cording, and perhaps a blue jean needle). Beth distributed supplies to those members participating in the activity.
Show and Tell
Various members of the guild shared their delightful quilts with the membership.
