March 12, 2026
The March 12, 2026 meeting of the Corvallis Modern Quilt Guild (CMQG) was conducted at the Corvallis Museum. Colleen P., President, convened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. Susan S. graciously welcomed forty-four attendees (3 guests and 41 members) to the evening meeting.
Announcements
Members were reminded to please pick up your badge when you arrive. The badges help with the check-in process and enable attendees to become better acquainted with each other as they learn members’ names. In addition, if you have a handmade badge you love, feel free to wear it along with your guild badge. At the end of the meeting, please return your guild badge to the bowl so it is ready for next month.
Quiltfolk
Members were reminded of the Quiltfolk coupon. Members were treated to Quiltfolk gift drawings of calendars and magazines.
New Opportunity
Alice M. and Colleen P. will host a relaxed Zoom conversation to brainstorm ideas for future guild programs on March 18th at 7:00 p.m. If you enjoy thinking about speakers, demonstrations, or activities the guild might try, they would love you to join the Zoom meeting and provide your input. The link for RSVP and Zoom can be found in the March 6th newsletter.
Program
Pattie D. debuted her updated and expanded Modern Quilting presentation, featuring a curated slideshow of CMQG member quilts. She highlighted key elements of modern design — scale, color, negative space, and improvisation — demonstrating how our guild’s work embodies the modern aesthetic. This pleasing and informative presentation is now ready for Pattie to take on the road to other inquisitive guilds.

QuiltCon Sharing
Two of our members, Marianne D. and Dr. Colleen P., both exhibited personal quilts at QuiltCon this year and attended the show in person. They shared their personal experiences about attending QuiltCon and their favorite quilt photos from the event.
Guild Quilt on Display
Our QuiltCon community quilt “Porcelain Radiance” was on display during the meeting so members could view it up close.

Quilts in the Garden
Joyce L. updated the membership on the progress of the Quilts in the Garden event that is being coordinated with Mary’s River Quilt Guild. Quilts will be displayed in four gardens with a bus transporting visitors to the different locations. Joyce wanted members to be aware of the date (June 20, 2026) and place it on their calendar. As the event nears, members will be asked to volunteer in various positions making the event a positive experience for all.
Thursday Sewing Group
Mieke V. is in the process of developing a weekly sewing group that will meet in her home on Thursdays from 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. This group is simply a chance to spend an afternoon sewing together, working on personal projects or community quilts. Space will be limited to eight, and members can RSVP on the group messaging thread. Interest is high for this new activity, so members may need to alternate weeks so everyone has a chance to attend. Please check the guild website for more information.
Celebrate and Sew Together at CPI
As a way to celebrate International Quilting Day, Candy W. Is hosting a special sewing gathering at CPI, opening at 8:00 a.m. The activity for the day will revolve around a live streaming event, Make an Improv Baby Quilt with Me, sponsored by The Modern Quilt Studio. Those interested in attending the activity at CPI should check the All Members Group on the guild website where Candy has posted more information regarding the event. As an added bonus, those attending Sew Day on Sunday may leave their machines overnight at CPI.
Community Quilts
Mieke V. recently donated six guild quilts to Monarch on 4th in Corvallis and were much appreciated by the organization. As a reminder, please check the guidelines on the resource page of the guild website for specific information pertaining to donation quilts.
Get ’Er Done
Members shared their #1 completed projects with guild members. Those members completing the #1 project will have their name submitted into the drawing to be held at the end of the year. Anyone interested in learning more about Get ’Er Done may contact Candy W. The project to be completed for the April meeting is #10.
Show and Tell
Various members of the guild shared their delightful quilts with the membership.
Invitation
CMQG members are invited to attend the April 23, 2026 meeting of MRQG where Marcia Derse will be the guest speaker. There will be no charge for CMQG members to attend the lecture.
