June 11, 2026 CMQG Monthly Meeting

The June 11, 2026 meeting of the Corvallis Modern Quilt Guild (CMQG) was conducted at the Corvallis Museum. Colleen P., President, convened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. Susan S. graciously welcomed 42 attendees, including 4 guests.

Announcements

  • The membership was updated regarding the dedicated team of volunteers from both CMQG and MRQG that have been working behind the scenes to coordinate the quilts, the gardens, the signage, the logistics, the ticket sales, and the countless other details that most visitors never see at Quilts in the Garden. Members were encouraged to provide their support on the day of the event through volunteering, attending, or simply cheering from the sidelines to make Quilts in the Garden a successful event. For more information, contact the co-chairs, Beth R. and Joyce L. Email Marianne D. with any questions about submitted quilts.

  • The deadline for acceptance of the “Honoring the Woman Farmers” quilts, which will be displayed in Quilts in the Garden, has been extended to June 14, 2026. The collection point for these quilts will be at the in-person sew day at CPI.

  • Colleen P. extended a personal invitation to her Renewal Gathering Open House, Sunday, June 14th from 9:00 - 5:00 p.m.

  • The Modern Burgoyne Surrounded BOM, which was officially due in September, has been revised to July 2027 for the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show special exhibit.

  • The July guild meeting will be held at a Martin Luther King Park at the Walnut Barn. The guild activity will be a social event including a picnic/potluck. Please encourage your quilting friends to join us for the event.

Program: QuiltCon Community Challenge Quilt

Members broke into eight groups and spent the evening exploring possibilities for the 2027 QuiltCon Community Challenge Quilt. The theme for the challenge utilizes half-square triangles. Working with this theme and one of the two prescribed color palettes, each group generated ideas, sketches, and fabric mock-ups. By the end of the evening, three concepts emerged as clear favorites for further exploration. The collaborative project will continue to develop over the next few months as the design is being created.

Get ’Er Done

Members shared their #4 completed projects with guild members. Those members completing the #4 project will have their name submitted into the drawing to be held at the end of the year. Anyone interested in learning more about Get ’Er Done may contact Candy W. The project to be completed for the June meeting is #7.

Made Fabric Block Exchange

Completed blue and purple with yellow stars blocks were given to Diana F. to be used in a project of her choice. Mieke V. presented her quilt concept for the June exchange of blocks. She requested 5-inch blocks that she will incorporate in this design. Information about constructing the block can be found on the guild website in the group section.

Show and Tell

Various members of the guild shared their delightful creations with the membership.
