Show & Tell on a Bigger Stage: Exhibiting & Judging Your Quilts
Ready to take your quilts beyond the guild walls? This month’s meeting will feature both guest speakers and guild members sharing their experiences with exhibiting quilts at the Benton County Fair and other local venues – including what it’s like to have your quilt judged.
Special guest speakers include:
Anna Colvin – Benton County Fair Fiber Arts Divisions Superintendent
Plus an additional guest speaker – One of the sewing and quilting judges will be joining us to share their expertise. She brings many years of experience teaching in 4-H and working as a judge at various county fairs.
Member Lauren Graham – Judge for the Marion County Fair and quilt shop professional
Lauren is the daughter of the owner of The Cotton Patch in Salem and manages the shop’s booth at local shows, including the Oregon State Fair and the Oregon Quilt Festival – a standalone event held at the State Fairgrounds that’s always a highlight!
We’ll explore:
How to submit quilts for the Benton County Fair specifically
What to expect when your quilt is judged
Tips for preparing quilts for public display
Upcoming exhibit opportunities and how to get involved
Whether you’re thinking about showing your first quilt or want to improve your submissions, this is a chance to learn directly from those who’ve done it before.
Come with questions and leave inspired to put your quilts in the spotlight!
