Made Fabric Block Exchange

Hey, all you Block Exchangers! At long last, here are the instructions for the Twister block, due at the CMQG meeting on 14 May 2026.

Like I said, I plan to be at Sew Day on the 19th to demo how the block is made. I’ll also bring my bags of scraps, for anyone to use.

The PDF assumes you’re already familiar with creating Made Fabric. How many of you need more instruction, beyond the demos I’ll do at Sew Day and the material in VFW’s 15 Minutes of Play?

Hey, everyone. As announced at the meeting on Thursday, I’ll be facilitating this month’s block. I’ll post instructions for the block soon, and I plan to be at Sew Day on the 19th to demo how the block is made. I’ll also bring my bags of scraps, for anyone who’d like to use them up for me. 😁

BTW, once a few more people have joined this group, we can figure out who will be facilitating next month’s block.

Welcome to the Made Fabric Block Exchange! Our goal is to create and exchange blocks that incorporate improvisationally pieced scraps, otherwise known as “Made Fabric,” as described by Victoria Findlay Wolfe in 15 Minutes of Play.

Each month, one group member will act as facilitator, choosing that month’s block. Everyone in the group will create one block and give it to that month’s facilitator, who will then... do whatever! Create a quilt and keep it, create a quilt and give it away, give the blocks away, whatever: it’s the facilitator’s choice.

CMQG members who do not wish to participate in the exchange are of course welcome to create blocks of their own, but will not have the opportunity to act as facilitator or receive blocks from others.
